Default GW2: What I'd like to see

Okay, we all have questions, and wants, hopes and dreams and some fears about gw2. To that end, let's say for the sake of discussion, you were in charge and could decide what the game would be like. What would you want?

My ideas/wishes are as follows:

1) Weapons and/or armor are achieved by levelling and then by finishing quests, or collecting items. They cannot be sold or traded. Now before you yell at me, I'm tired of all the spam 24/7/365 selling items. Unless GW can implement a viable way to stop it, this would be the alternative as far as I can see. I'd like the focus to be on playing the game and sharing time with others, not lets make a deal.

2) Skills are only assessible by completing quests etc. (Like Prophecies used to be).

3) Chests require no keys and spawn randomly, the loot is high quality and only sellable to npc merchants. (Again I want the focus to be on the game not how much gold you have).

4) Larger groups, for tougher missions. Elite areas would be like this, the more the merrier.

5) No effect, condition, enchantment, spell or skill could last longer than 10 seconds. And ALL skills would be subject to a random failure. (nothing works perfectly all the time. This would effect all attacks, etc..)

6) FOTM builds are fogotten and all have the same chance to finish missions, with or without other players.

7) NO GOLD STANDARD, NO ECONOMY. Too much focus is placed on wealth. No outrageous prices for anything, no constant selling. Play the game or go away LOL (this would remove all the bots, ebayers etc.And not cause the devs to ruin the loot etc because someone sold something for real money on ebay).

8) PVP DOES NOT EFFECT PVE. Nerf whatever ya want in pvp leave pve alone. And vice versa. Simple concept.

Okay lets hear your ideas?

Note: These are ideas , they have no more chance of being used than I do of sprouting wings. You are entitled to your opinion, as I am mine. If you have alternate ideas, please share them. Please do not make this a flame war and attack people for their ideas. Thanks in advance

I would like to see more interaction in the pve enviroment...It seems to "kill monster..walk walk walk..kill monster...etc..." There is so much to GW's interesting rpg story that they could attract so much more if they just invested some time. for instance... If I were to remake GW1 these are some changes I would make....

1. make skills do more than just kill things in pve. for instance... you cannot enter the ice cave unless you use [card]liquid flame[/card]... you cannot defeat a certain foe without a KD like [card]bull's strike[/card]... you cannot pass a ravine without [card]necrotic transversal[/card] or [card]ride the lightning[/card] ETC... you get the drift... it would make the enemies harder to kill and more diverse (like mike tyson's punchout) and make the pve enviroment more interesting and interactive.

2. I would also make a reliable way to make money... instead of going out to kill things..buying and reselling...mindless farming... it would be nice to have some sort of 'profession' system in place... maybe even a MERCINARY NPC who always has a small mission/quest for you to earn (good) cash

3. I would make more interactive story threads within the game.. a branching storyline with different choices determining the outcome of the characters fate.. they somewhat did this in NF giving options for missions and such. but you pretty much ended up in the same place.

I will probably have more ideas to come... but I think these would certainly help pve be more interesting.

1. No to this. Personally I like so spend time shopping for items that I like, and browse the market. Don't like the spam then turn off local or trade.

2. Yes and No. No to the "only" part but yes to the ability to get skills from quests.

3. Maybe. Chests require keys as a money sink, if GW 2 doesn't need it as a money sink then sure why not. If it does then yeah keys should be included.

4. Yes to large groups.

5. Definate no to no condition or hex or enchant or whatever lasting more than ten seconds. This would completely ruin maintained enchantments, complete ruin condition killing and completely ruin hexing pressure. The reason these things are forms of pressure is because they last for a long time. A definate no, this is pretty much support any class that doesn't do their damage through degen, which hurts all necros, mesmers and rangers which I like to play FOR that reason.

6. Uh don't know what you mean about this.

7. No. I agree that bots and ebayers are a problem, but I know a lot of people who like to play the game in order to make money. Some people like to farm, and just because someone like you and someone like me doesn't like to farm doesn't mean that you deny those people of those choices. Get collector weapons from the start, and as you get more money get more "eye-candy". Some items are ridiculously priced though.

8. No. If one skill is changed in PvP then it should be changed in PvE, and I feel in order to bring the community together, there should be a link between PvP and PvE like the UW and FOW link with favor. Personally I have had a lot of fun just standing in ToA waiting for favor and talking with the other people waiting.

Personally, if these all got implemented into GW 2, I would stick with GW 1 instead.

The real reason the chests require keys is that they were too profitable without them. People like me used to do the chest runs before they added keys and you'd get crazy money in no time, just spend a whole day doing the same run over and over.

While we're busy, let's make GW2 a one player game, where you trade sticks and stones, with perfect balance, and no pvp.

PvP skills= PvE skills must stay so the transition between pve and pvp is more easy. If you're a pver and you want to try out pvp, and suddenly all skills are different, would it be harder? Yes. Definately.

I think skills, or whatever abilities exsist in GW2, need to be better balanced for the situation rather than seperated between PvP or PvE. Also PvP and PvE combat needs to be more simular that way the use of skills have simular impact, instead of having hamper PvE effective skills based on their application difference from PvP.

The Gameplay either way should not foster features which cripple them to certain skills forcing widespread nerfs on skills based on their obscure capabilities, this is just as significant in this installment as the next.

I know what I'd like, give all those currently playing GW1, 100k if they buy the new GW2. No silly pet, or stupid half baked weapon no one wants. Give us GOLD!

I perfer the weapons and armor, honestly, the entire economic side of games make me cringe. I have finances in real life, and a buisness to pursue, I still need to list all my tax deductions, what I don't need is an exhaulted economic system.
